About Lev E. Perlov

Lev E. Perlov (1926–2006) was born in Moscow and orphaned during Stalin’s Great Purge. After serving in the Soviet military post–World War II, he earned a law degree remotely while stationed in Soviet Georgia. In 1973, facing growing antisemitism and harsh emigration restrictions, he orchestrated a daring escape from the USSR with his wife and daughters—outsmarting the KGB to find freedom.
